LONGBODY is a collaboration of two Southern songwriters, Rick Burch and Deb Arabie, writing in an unconventional way. 

Rick is a graduate of Physics and Mathematics and is published in the Journal of Mathematical Physics.

He is an avid reader in most domains of thought, with a special passion for psychology, anthropology and mythology.
Rick writes mostly on guitar, but also studied jazz piano from a Master Composer and Jazz Musician in New Orleans for 4 years.

His education, readings, interests and life experiences contribute to his lyrics, harmonic structures and subjects... 

Deb, a beautiful, sensitive soul,  who has a passion for singing and the uncanny ability to develop unique melodies and phrasing,

gives LONGBODY its vocal presentation...

LONGBODY's musical foundations for their songs are Americana, rock, folk rock and jazz... 

Their songwriting is for pure joy, fun and love; never putting any pressure on themselves. 

"We’d show up Friday evenings, religiously and with passion; I’d introduce one or two harmonic forms, (sound poems)... 

Deb would flip through a binder full of lyrics until she’d match words and a melodic idea in her head  and a song would be conceived.

Nine times out of ten,  it would be the first match, a magical event...

We’d laugh and work out the structure and just enjoy how much fun it all was."
